The VNIDA Chartered Independent Director Certification (VNCID) was established by Vietnam Independent Directors Association (VNIDA) — a professional association licensed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to operate nationwide — with the purpose of creating and maintaining professionalism among Independent Directors. VNCID is not merely a title; it is a professional certification for practice.
The VNCID pathway is designed to comply with and meet legal regulations, eligibility requirements, professional expectations, and good corporate governance practices. This certification affirms that candidates have undergone a comprehensive competency assessment to ensure that they possess the qualities, integrity, knowledge, and skills required to perform the role of independent oversight with diligence and loyalty.
🌟 IDTP – Level 1: Independent Director Training Program
The Independent Director Training Program (IDTP) serves as the mandatory entry point (Level 1) in the VNCID pathway, focusing on core professional competencies. IDTP is a foundational professional training program organized by VNIDA Institute of Corporate Governance Research (VNICG), the specialized research and training arm of VNIDA.
Participation requirements for IDTP have been standardized. Applicants are required to hold an undergraduate or postgraduate degree and have at least 5 years of experience in management, executive leadership, or governance roles.
The IDTP program lasts three days (approximately 24 hours) and includes the following core modules:
- Corporate Governance and Board of Directors: Foundations and core principles, supported by international professional associations such as ISCA and/or IOD India.
- Risk Management and Control: Supporting the development of risk oversight and internal control mechanisms, with support from IIA Vietnam.
- Finance: Financial oversight, report analysis, and strategic understanding, supported by CFA Vietnam.
- IDTP also equips future Independent Directors with foundational knowledge across critical areas including law and compliance, finance, strategy, risk, sustainability, and ESG.
